Originally facing the risk of abandonment in the mid-20th century due to rural depopulation, the village was brought back to life in 2000 when two families initiated a restoration project. Their vision gradually evolved into Cerdeira– Home for Creativity, a place where art, nature, and community intertwine to offer unique experiences for artists, makers, and visitors.

At the heart of this creative hub lies the Arts and Crafts School, an initiative dedicated to preserving traditional craftsmanship while fostering contemporary artistic exploration.
